Holiday Season is upon us.
Summer Holidays! The best time of the year in my opinion. Everyone is gearing up for Christmas and their well-deserved break after a long year.
The warmth, the kids playing out on the lawn, the afternoon drinks on the deck, and that first dive into the ocean after the cooler months.
It is a time to reflect on the chapter that was and to gaze ahead to how we want the following year to look.
Perhaps this means booking your holidays ahead of time, creating a health goal, the kick off of a new career, working on getting that promotion or the joys of planning for a new arrival into your family.
You may also be thinking about how to create a home that is more functional and fluid for your family get togethers, or imagining a space that is more organised? The need for a practical and stylish home office? A beautiful space for your little bundle or toddler to grow and play in?
It can be a fresh opportunity to re-create your home and the life you live. Perhaps in a way that makes you feel like you're on holidays all year round!
In our case, we will be looking to remodel our very old garage. Our Freshwater lower duplex is 1950’s and the garage is in its original form. Ant riden and all! We have already knocked down the carport to its right, to allow for more light and space in our North facing yard. The dream is for a double garage to be built on our corner block that backs onto a rear lane. A beautiful but pared-back aesthetic, with a coastal vibe (of course), and wide barn-like doors on lane and yard sides.
Now this space won’t necessarily be used for our cars. It would be another living area for our little Alby to play, and for us to entertain. It would have polished concrete flooring and large open windows that look out to the greenery of our garden. The interior would be relaxed, inviting and adaptable.
Upstairs would be a loft for a home office or extra bedroom with an abundance of natural light and warm tones. Bringing the outside in. Ideally an external staircase would lead up from the garden below.

What can you dream up for 2023?
